This wonderful park covers over 200 acres and is a great place to spend a day with the kids. The park was the subject of one of Britains biggest restoration projects in 2000 with funds from the Heritage Lottery Fund and the local council. The park boasts some magnificent fountains, a 1km long riverside promenade, a large lake with cafe and a number of ecological areas.

There is also play areas for children as well as facilities for the following sports athletics, jogging, trim track, fishing, rowing, tennis, rollerblading, cycling, bowls, football, rugby, cricket, hockey, 5-a-side, boules, and croquet.

There is a place to hire bikes and also a Land Train for children to ride on that is open from July to August.

Opening Hours

Official opening times are 8am to dusk, though the gates are often open earlier.

Is food available and what type?

There is an Italian resturant La Gondola al Parco by the lake and also a number of snack kiosks around the park.
