The largest of the Royal Parks covering over 2500 acres and designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a National Nature Reserve, this is a lovely place for the family to have a picnic and play games.

For the kids and children there is a Playground at Kingston and Petershams Gates that also has entertainmnet in the summer holidays, kite flying and bike hire allowing you to follow the 12km Tamsin Trail cycle path.

The Holly Lodge Centre, situated at the north end of the park, is a place where children of all ages can learn about the wildlife and history of the park through hands on experiences and holds a series of events through the year, see their website for more details.

The park has a number of wild animals with Red & Fallow Deer roaming freely but you are advised to keep a respectful distance.

Opening Hours

The park is open from 7am in the summer and 7.30am in the winter, and closes at dusk all year round. A document giving specific opening and closing times for the whole year can be downloaded from the web site.
