Finsbury Park was officially opened in 1869 and continues to evoke its undoubted value as a 'People's Park'.

The Grade 2 listed park has undergone a £5 million restoration and improvement programme to return it to its former glory. In 2007 it was awarded the sort after Green Flag Award and has retained it ever since.

The American Gardens have been re-landscaped, and Alexander McKensie's historical flower gardens are looking loved. The Furtherfield Gallery is at the heart of the park, near the lake, and is known as being the first gallery for networked media art. Of course there is a kids play area and this one has a water feature designed by children for children - surely every play area should do this?

The cafe and loos are new and improved (Yeh!) and the obligatory - and genius creation - out door gym is insitu too; officially for 12 years and up. Unofficially, everyone has a go. Add to all this the sports facilities and skate park and you'd be surprised at the room left over for trees and flowers.
