Details

The area known as Arnos Park has a long history, dating from the Tudor period when King Henry VIII confiscated land owned by the Roman Catholic church.
Due to the dissolution of the monasteries and subsequent land distribution, land belonging to the nuns of Clerkenwell became the Arnos Grove Estate, known locally as Arnolds.

The area was originally heavily wooded, with much of the Arnos and Grovelands Estates consisting of hornbeam and coppice oak woodland. In 1928, the park was created from the woodland.
