Situated next to the Tower of London, this church has a rich and varied history. William Penn, founder of Pennsylvania, was baptised in the church and John Quincy Adams, sixth president of the USA, was married here. An arch from the original Saxon church remains, and the Undercroft Museum contains many exhibits including a Roman pavement, Roman London model, Saxon crosses and other artefacts, evidence of city life on this site for nearly two thousand years. Guided Tours are available most weekday afternoons between April and September from 2-4pm, and Brass Rubbing is usually available on request (5). Please check beforehand if you are making a special visit in case there are other services and events taking place that day.
