"The Clitterhouse fields are something rare in London, a large open area not broken up by "improvements" ie pay to play football fields etc, although a proposed redevelopement of the whole area may occur. The fields are currently used by many local people for walking, exercising dogs, kite flying, and flying model aeroplanes, and general leisure activities. The proposed redevelopement would greatly enlarge the adjacent Brent Cross shopping area, (Although since currently there are many empty shops there one wonders why it should be emlarged!) much of the open area would be built over, and the remaining open area broken up into smaller units, (The proposal for the area talks about the creation of four parks but in fact these would be subdivisions of current open space.) There is considerable controversy about the actual ownership of the Fields and Barnet Councils possibly illegal sale of the lands to the developers which they do not own, "
