"Not an obvious place for nature lovers, Barking south of the A13 is home to this lovely little woodland reserve amongst other jewels (see London Wildlife Trust for more info). There's open scrub, a mainly silver birch wood and two newly dug ponds hoping to attract frogs and newts etc. It's currently undervisited so if you like solitude and the sound of birds, this is a place to go for a shortish stroll or have a picnic. Volunteer sessions on various Wednesdays and Saturdays, led by LWT give an opportunity to get involved and learn about conservation work with a bit more company. Definitely worth a visit."
