It’s been a few weeks so I thought it was about time I came and gave you all an update on the goings on at Rocknrollerbaby! We’ve been busy, busy, busy finding lots of exciting things to do in the Capital and I have lots of lovely antics to report in the coming weeks but for now I must tell you about a brilliant place in East London which is not only great for our littlies but also has lots on offer for the whole family at varying different times!
The East London Gymnastics Club (www.eastlondongym.co.uk) is a little gem situated in Beckton just next door to Asda. It’s not a building that immediately draws the eye and even when you do realise it’s a gym I’m not sure if you would realise the true delights that lie within the walls; for here there really is something special inside! Of course they offer the expectations of any gym: Tuition for you, your pre school children, school age goers and teens in the art of gymnastics, karate and other fitness areas. They also offer a sauna and fitness room for adults. But, and here’s the bit I’m most impressed with! They also offer a parent and toddler session daily throughout the working week. This costs £3 per child and each session lasts an hour and a half. For this you and your child get access to the fenced off soft play area at the back of the gymnasium. This is a typical soft play area with multi levels, slides and ball pools. It is cleaner than lots of soft play areas and has two different sections; one for under fives and the other for up to 12 years old. This is a great feature in itself but what I’ve not mentioned is that you also have exclusive access to the rest of the gymnasium in front of the soft play. The room is left safe enough for little ones to run free while you watch but has lots of things for them to bounce off, jump on and practice skills like balance on.
There are beams low to the ground which can be accessed on their own or with your help. With crash mats in place and the sprung floor it’s a very safe environment and when we have been with friends all of their little faces light up at the sheer amount of room they have to bound around in. As well as the beams and a small soft obstacle course there are bars over crash mats that children can practice swinging on and a pool of foam squares they can throw themselves in and swim around in which is mighty fun! I know because I too spent a great deal of time flailing about with the little ones in here! By far the best attraction however is the trampoline. Nothing too special about a trampoline you might think but imagine one built into the floor expelling ALL aspects of falling and hurting ones self! It’s an utterly brilliant hour and a half and with benches at the front to sit on you can just sit and watch as they wear themselves out… (Or like me get stuck in and wear yourself out too!) The times are 10am – 11.30am Mon/Tues/Thurs/Fri and 12.00pm – 1.30pm on a Wednesday… And once the little ones are done bouncing you’re right next door to the retail park so it’d be rude not to do a bit of shopping wouldn’t it!
With moving into my second trimester of pregnancy next week I expect that my days of bouncing around myself are numbered and I may very well be on the bench for the foreseeable when we visit the East London Gymnasium but at least I’ll still be able to enjoy the shopping afterwards! Saying that, is anyone else planning on going to The Baby Show in Earls Court at the end of the month? If you’re pregnant or have a new baby there really couldn’t be a better shopping experience, with everything under one roof and many with amazing discounts! With a free crèche for your older children and plenty of places to breast feed quietly it’s a lovely day out and I am actually offering 7 of the readers of my other blog (www.rocknrollerbaby.co.uk) the chance to win a pair of tickets each! You have to hurry because the competition ends this Thursday but get in there, read my other blog and enter this fab competition and who knows; maybe I’ll see you there!
See you back here soon for some more fabby days out in London news. Lots of things coming up including a treasure trail around St Katharine’s Docks!
